This was such a fun read! I loved the characters in this book; and there were sections that caused me to literally laugh out loud.
Lovage has a chance meeting with an older woman that sheds a new perspective on life. Because of this perspective, Lovage allows the woman to take all the candy from the booth she was manning for a community center. This causes an increase is sign ups for a new program at the community centre, and gives Lovage some paid work while she starts her gardening business.
Lovage is able to build relationships with this motley group of people until the pandemic hit and everyone was told to shelter in place. During this time Lovage is able to focus on her gardening business and meet and even more interesting set of brothers.
I was very interested in the story line, and would have finished this book in one sitting if I didn't have to work and keep house. Overall, it was a cute read that allowed me to escape my responsibilities. I highly recommend this book to others. It is a quick read as well, so you can't go wrong!

Charming, funny and insightful
‘An unexpected little gem where the trick is the unearthing of diamonds among the unspectacular and ordinary. Nothing could be much more everyday than the goings on at a community centre but the author offers up a succession of nuggets rich in character and humour, like the angst over sharing a grave with a partner's widow. The writing is charming and insightful without an ounce of fat, never more evident than in the entire journey of womanhood being described in a single passage of dialogue. I had to break off and read that one to my wife. Tellingly, both the examples I have used here involve Bub, the feisty fifty-something who shoots from the hip and is clearly the star of the show. She deserves a novel to herself. My one complaint? The book is here and gone much too quickly. Hopefully this debut novella is a taster of more - much more - to come.’

Nice easy read – made me smile
In amongst the doom and gloom of our lives right now, this was a little comfort. I got into the characters and they reminded me of some good friends who I have meet recently through book club and have encouraged me to join the WI. I could just see my 80 year old friend doing this.
Will have no issue with reading more from this author. I was given a complimentary copy by Voracious Readers for an honest and fair review which I have done.

Short and sweet
This was an easy read. It was entertaining and held my attention. I would have liked to get to know the main character a little better. I’d say this is a great book to take on holiday!

A lovely set of short stories set on a community centre. Focused on the central character of Lovage, we get to know a motley crew of well-drawn characters including Bub, 'who assaults i-pads' with her fingers, among other. This is the perfect read for a winter evening and will warm the coldest heart. I really enjoyed it.

A book about the times we live in. I loved the main character- would like to get to know her and her mum and sister a bit more. A look at the bright side of life. However I felt there is much more to thus story. Would make a great stage play.
